YouTube is testing a new comment feature

On 30 April 2021, Google-owned video platform said in a blog post that YouTube is testing a new comment feature. However, this feature has been available for a limited number of people as a Beta tester. Later the new comment feature will be available worldwide as per the feedback of the users.  As per the reports of 9To5Google, the new feature will prevent the users from disclosing the video content before watching. On the contrary, it may have a negative impact also. There would come more comment spam(s) than currently.

According to the company, the users will comment on a specific time of the video(s). Moreover, the comment will also show to others at the exact time of the video when users commented. In a nutshell, YouTube will allow the users to comment under the video about a certain part and will attach it to the relevant part of the video.

Additionally, this feature has been now for an experiment. Therefore, selected videos and a group of people have access to this new feature of comment. The new comment feature has been developing for iOS and Android which means there’s no chance for its desktop version yet.  The comment timed feature or update has been added to the part of the “YouTube test features and experiments” program.

YouTube’s timestamp comment feature will be helpful for those who are curious about a particular part of the video. For instance, if one wants to find that what is happening at a certain time of the video then he/she can pause the video and would see the comments of those who had explained with the timestamped. Previously, you had to scroll down the comments of videos and then saw the timestamped comment(s) for an explanation of a certain part of the video.
