Currently, YouTube becomes number 1 by consumer spend, according to a report on the worldwide app. Consumers have been spending more on in-app purchases on YouTube than any other app for the last two years. Surprisingly, this is only the data for the first quarter of 2021. The data comes from the first 4 months of the year. In general, the data from App claims that the first few months of 2021 broke records for YouTube. YouTube has surpassed TikTok and Tinder to become the top list in-app purchases across the globe. Roughly the smartphone users spent almost $9 billion on purchases of apps and games in the first quarter of 2021. The users spend nearly half in-app purchases than they did in the first quarter of 2020. Although the increase of in-app purchase is similar on iOS and Android.

- YouTube Premium: it is a monthly subscription that allows you to watch videos without interruption between ads. Moreover, it gives other features as well.
- Specific Channel Membership: it also comes with a monthly subscription, but only to a specific channel.
- Super Chat highlight: by the help of this feature, viewers can pay the video creator to highlight chat messages during a live stream.
- Super Sticker in Chats: Viewers can send super stickers in a chat during the live stream by paying the creator.
Among the Channel memberships, super chats, and super stickers, they all go directly toward a content or video creator’s earnings.
YouTube Viewership is 6x Higher than other Apps:
Way back in 2020, App Annie announced that smartphone users are watching YouTube 6x more than the other streaming apps. On average, a YouTube viewer watches 38 hours of videos each month. In 2020, YouTube was the number 1 ranking app among all markets except only China. In 2021, App Annie predicts that due to pandemic the ratio will increase from time to time. Furthermore, it claims that this is only just an idea; the original stats can be even more.
