Xiaomi and Oppo are working on their own 5G
Xiaomi and Oppo are working on their own 5G chips by the end of 2021. The reason for making their own chipsets is the policy behind “Made in china 2025” and to achieve the goals of the policy. The decision was made after looking at Huawei’s fate as per the restrictions imposed on it by the US. As the matter of fact, Huawei has been making 5G chipset for most Chinese smartphones. The two companies, Xiaomi and Oppo have decided to work on their own chipset. Surprisingly, from nowhere, both the companies have entered the race of chipset making. As we all know both companies are owned by China and have a huge impact on the whole market of the world.
Xiaomi first made its chip name as the Surge S1 in 2017, but until now it is unable to make yet another chipset. By joining hands with oppo it is more likely that Xiaomi will be launching its 5G chipset soon. The companies’ officials haven’t announced the exact date for the launch of the chip but it is likely to be launched by the end of this year or in early 2022.

Xiaomi and Oppo’s decision for developing their chipsets could have two main reasons. The reasons include:
- Not relying on foreign industries for 5G
- Better integration of hardware and software in the devices
5G chipsets and other tech companies:
As we all know, Apple has been making its own hardware as well as software since its launch. Currently, Google plans to launch its own smartphones under their company made chipsets or processors. Furthermore, most Android smartphones have been using Qualcomm’s chipsets. Now, Xiaomi and Oppo have entered the race for making their own 5G chipsets as looking future of semi-conductor technology.
Furthermore, Xiaomi and oppo are impressed by Apple’s progress. Additionally, likewise Apple, Samsung also has been using its company made chipset known as Exynos. Unfortunately, unlike Apple, Samsung has not delivered better performance in its company made chips. However, Samsung Qualcomm’s variants are supposed to be better performance-wise as well technology-wise.
