Sony is investing $200 million in Epic Games

As a part of $1 billion funding, Sony is investing $200 million in Epic Games. As we all know Epic Games are the developers of the most famous game “Fortnite”. So Fortnite developers announced early in the day that Sony has invested in its company as a part of the funding round. More than investors invested in the Epic Games. After the investment, the company valued $28.7 billion. Surprisingly, this is over $10 billion more than Epic Games’ actual estimated value. However, after the investment, the CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney is still the major shareholder of the company.

Moreover, the CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney announced that their company will use the investment for accelerating the work. Furthermore, he said that they will try to make games like FortniteRocket League and Fall Guys. The company will support game developers and creators with Unreal Engine, Epic Online Services and the Epic Games Store with the help of investment from Sony. The CEO of Sony, Kenichiro Yoshida announced that after the investment, Sony will be excited to strengthen their collaboration to bring out new entertainment games or other related platforms for people around the globe. Although before the investment from Sony, Epic Games had invested hundreds of millions in free games and exclusives for the Epic Games Store.

This “strategic investment and deal is described as building their already close relationship and emphasizes the shared mission to advance technology and make it possible to every single person.
