Samsung reclaims top spot in smartphone production
South Korean tech conglomerate, Samsung reclaims top spot in smartphone production in the first quarter of 2021. The tech giant has seen a massive rise in shipments of smartphones in Q1 2021. This shipment has been the highest since 2015. As a reminder, before Samsung, Apple was at the top of the list in terms of smartphones manufacturing. Moreover, the shipments of the company have reached more than 340 million units in total. This means it increases the progress of 24 per cent from last year.
Earlier this year, Samsung has launched its flagship series of smartphones. Therefore, the launch of Galaxy S21 looks to have helped the tech company to attain the top spot in smartphone making. Furthermore, Samsung Galaxy A series smartphones of 4G and 5G also contributed their part towards the top spot of smartphone manufacturers.
As per the official reports, Samsung has seen a rise of 45 per cent in the sale of its electronic equipment(s) mainly smartphones. Additionally, the increase of its sales happened in the first quarter of this year especially from January to March. As we all know, due to the ongoing pandemic mostly people prefer to stay at home and use smartphones. The ongoing pandemic has become a boost for Samsung’s increase in sale. Interestingly, Samsung shipped more than 77 million smartphones globally in the first quarter of 2021.
Surprisingly, Apple came 2nd in the list of handset shipment. Apple shipped only 57 million mobile phones during the first quarter of 2021. Also, Samsung was at the top of the list by the market share of 24 per cent in quarter one. Samsung will again top the list of smartphones shipment in the annual rankings, according to experts. However, it will still have a threat from other Chinese smartphones brands as suggested by experts.
