Microsoft rolls out a new Surface Laptop 4
Microsoft rolls out a new Surface Laptop 4, Window 10 computer. The previous version of the Surface laptop (3) had been launched for over one year. In surface laptop 4, little things have changed from the previous one that includes the device and its successor. However, Microsoft has made changes inside the device. The new Surface Laptop 4 will come alongside new headsets, a webcam, and a speaker. Microsoft is claiming to have an increase of 70 per cent in performance. The surface laptop will either use Intel’s 11th generation chipset or AMD’s Ryzen 4000 series processor.
Features of Surface Laptop 4:
The decision of using AMD’s Ryzen 4000 series processor follows Apple’s choice to move from intel’s processors. The decision of replacing intel’s chipset is well received by customers and is likely to be replaced by an M2 chip in upcoming products of Apple. However, Microsoft has its own custom made ARM-based chipsets. The ARM-based chip has already been used in the Surface Pro X tablet. Unfortunately, the company has not decided to add this chip to the Surface Laptop 4 this time.
In the case of screen size, there are two rumours around.
- The laptop would come up with a 13.5-inch touchscreen in an Alcantara fabric, matte black, or sandstone housing
- Surface Laptop will have a 15-inch touchscreen that is only available in platinum and matte black metal.
As per the leaks, there will be one single USB-C port, a USB-A port, a headphone jack, and the company’s proprietary Surface Connect port for power.
The estimated price of the smaller variant will start at £999. On the other hand, its larger variant will come from £1,299. The Surface Laptop will start shipping on 27 April.
The upcoming laptop will include 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. Surprisingly, Microsoft claims a long 19 hours of battery life as well as fast charging support.
Other features include face recognition in its HD front-facing camera to unlock and more importantly Bluetooth 5.
