MediaTek is going to launch a 4nm chipset

According to the leaks, chipmaker MediaTek is going to launch a 4nm chipset for smartphones. MediaTek is going to be the first chip maker in the world to produce a 4nm chipset. The production of this new high-tech chip will suppose to start either at the end of this year or the start of the New Year. Also, the new chip will support 5G likewise other flagships chipsets. However, some major tech companies have already given orders for MediaTek’s new chips. The orders are given by some top-notch OEMs. The OEMs include Oppo, Xiaomi, Samsung, and Vivo.

The only drawback of MediaTek’s 4nm chipset is cost. Previously, MediaTek’s high-end 5nm chipsets cost between $30 and $35. On the other hand, MediaTek’s upcoming chipset will be launching with the collaboration of TSMC at a big cost. The cost will be around $80 per unit. Samsung’s rival company, TSMC will start the production of the 4nm chip at the mass level.

There are also rumours coming out that Samsung will use this chipset in its mid-range smartphones. This means the South Korean tech giant might release at least one high-end or higher mid-range Galaxy smartphone with this processor. As we mentioned above OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi have already ordered MediaTek’s upcoming chipset for their smartphones.

A famous Chinese tech company also claims that MediaTek’s new hardware will be able to challenge today’s Snapdragon 800-series chipset. Furthermore, MediaTek’s new hardware will also reduce power consumption. Looking at its released timeline, it’s likely to challenge the upcoming Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 895 chipset later this year or at the beginning of 2022.

It has been all the rumours, for now, nothing else. Of course, we will have to wait almost a year to see whether MediaTek beats every other chip-maker or not. We’ll update you in the upcoming days for its official launch date.
