Instagram makes DM more protective
Finally, Instagram has been adding another protective layer to prevent your DM from abusive content. However, Instagram makes DM more protective but there are still many steps that need to be taken in order to prevent abusive content. The abusive content may be in the form of offensive words, phrases, and emojis. As we all know, if you don’t follow each other the message will be shown in the message request(s) section. From now it will automatically detect and filter the hateful message for you. A step has been taken to protect the users from harassment and abusive content. The new feature has been named “Hidden Words”.
The new feature of “Hidden Words” works with a list of predefined words as well as those words you wish to add to your list. Therefore, Instagram will have an option of turning on or off both comment and DM request filters in your Privacy Settings. Likewise comment filter feature, the DM system will work similarly to filter your messages requests. Similarly, the users will have the ability to choose terms, emojis, phrases they don’t want people to use. According to the sources, Instagram had worked with anti-discrimination and anti-bullying organizations to develop this new feature of DM requests. With the help of these organizations, Instagram has come up with a list of offensive terms, phrases and emojis.
The new filtering feature will be rolling out in the upcoming week or two. At first, it will come to limited selected countries. Moreover, Instagram announced it will take months to make this feature available in the whole world.
Also, Instagram is coming with a feature that prevents you from receiving a DM request of the blocked person even after you had blocked him/her. Instagram also announced that it has been working on a new feature that will block new accounts created by someone you have blocked previously.
