Google saved $1 billion amid Covid-19

Due to the last year’s pandemic outbreak, many companies have preferred the work-from-home model (WFH). During the pandemic and rising of the virus, most companies including tech giants adopted the WFH model to meet their needs. Therefore, Google saved $1 billion amid Covid-19. Google alongside Apple, Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon etc reduced their workforce. As per the reports, Google saved its expenses in the fields of employees’ travelling, company’s promotions and the field of entertainment. Surprisingly, Google saved nearly $371 million last year only from travel and entertainment.

Moreover, the tech giant saved $268 million from January to March of this year. The amount of expenses saved is however huge, but as far as Google company is concerned it’s not a big deal. By the end of the previous year, Google had more than 103k employees working remotely worldwide. As a large chunk of workforce was working remotely, Google managed to save up a decent amount of money.  As many users were at home using the internet for the sake of business, education, online stores and jobs etc. The company gained a massive boost from its users as many of us had nothing to do.

However, many tech companies and other social media platforms have said to their employees to work from home forever. On the contrary, Google has announced to bring back their employees to the office in September of this year. On the other hand, this announcement has been completely dependent on the Covid-19 situation in the countries. Additionally, Google has decided to adopt the hybrid model for working. The employees in the company will maintain social distance by sitting far from others.

Furthermore, as per the reports, Google had spent its savings by hiring thousands of new talents.
