Google Meet unveiled an update that brings fun filters and masks to virtual meetings

Google has launched an update for its video meeting app named google meet that will make your video calls more interesting as well as enjoyable. Also, the new update has been rolling out for both major Operating Systems, such as Android and iOS. In Android, you can also use these cool features with Gmail. The new update has also brought the Styles and Filters option in the separate portion of the virtual meeting service. If you want to apply filters and masks to your face during a meeting, you can just click on the sparkle icon at the bottom right corner of your device screen. After this, a prompt of “Effect” options will pop up on your screen. Moreover, you will be able to find and apply the blur options in the section of “Effect”.

As Google meet is used mostly by professional workers, therefore, the filters and masks can only be applied to personal Gmail account, such as for students. While for Workspace, there are limited options for video callings, including blurring the background of the video or only customizing the background of the video of your own choice. To sum up, Meet has received new video filters, effects, and augmented reality masks for personal and video calls on iOS and Android devices.

Styles and Effects in Google Meet:

If you want to make your eyes or eyelashes more beautiful, you can see the list of all effects of the lens under the tab of “Styles”. This will enhance your eyes in the video and looks. While if you are still looking for a fun activity during the video streaming, you can apply masks virtually by selecting the option of “Filters”. The masks vary from different animals to even astronauts. As mentioned, these filters and styles can be used whether you are using Gmail on a desktop instead of the Meet app itself. These filters and styles are available free in the service of video call conferences and tested by the developers, according to Google.

To recall, the new filters and masks are very much similar to the sibling app of Google’s Duo. It seems like that most of the filters and masks in the app come directly through a library of Duo. Google Duo is a consumer-focused video meeting service unlike Meet, which is used for many purposes and audiences. According to 9to5Google, the search engine has been planning to replace Google Duo with Meet. Perhaps, this could be one of the reasons Google has decided to bring exciting new features within the app of Google Meet. In addition to this, Google is also making changes to compete with its arch-rival Zoom.
