From now you can use the Apple TV app on Android TV
Apple TV’s official Twitter account broke the news of rolling out the Apple TV app on Android TV devices. The news came on June 1, 2021, from their platform. This means that from now you can use the Apple TV app on Android TV devices. Apple aims to expand its TV streaming apps to many platforms other than iOS itself. Although, earlier this year, Google promised its users that it’ll be rolling out Apple’ TV app on its Play Store. The promise now has been fulfilled by the tech giant and you can easily search and install the Apple TV app on the go. Starting from June 1st, the TV app is available on all modern era TV devices. Moreover, Nvidia also claimed that it has an Apple TV application on its Shield TV(s). Therefore, the TV application will be getting on the entire Android TV OS ecosystem. Initially, the Apple TV was only available on Apple devices.

The list of Smart TVs or LEDs getting Apple’s application includes:
- Xiaomi QLED TVs
- Realme Smart TV 4k
- Nvidia’s Shield TVs
- OnePlus Smart TV
- TVs from TCL
- Hisense U8G television
- Sony Bravia TVs
- Chromecast with Google TV
In those above-mentioned televisions, the application can easily be found on the Google Play Store and download.

Additionally, if you’re still waiting for an official announcement from Google or other OEMs then there’s no need for that. The company has already included the app in its Play Store and many users have installed it on their TVs. As per the reports coming from Google, there will not be any major requirements for downloading the television application. However, the TV devices will be compatible which are running Android 8 (Oreo) or above. Previously, Apple TV had been expanded to other OS or platforms including Amazon’s Fire OS ecosystem and LG’s WebOS.
Furthermore, Apple TV will now be available on all devices that allow:
- The streaming of movies available to buy or rent
- Apple TV+ subscription service

As far as the competition is concerned, this is a great initiative from the company to expand its services to all the platforms as there are so many competitors.
