During the live stream of Microsoft-Bethesda, the head of the Xbox Phil Spencer was asked a question about Bethesda games. The question was about its launching on all Xbox platforms. Whether or not the Bethesda games will be live on Xbox and PC in the future? Spencer replied that while there are obligations that must be fulfilled. The partnership is really about delivering exclusive games to all the platforms of Xbox.
Xbox announced that 20 Bethesda games will live on all Xbox Game Pass on March 12, 2021. This deal includes Dishonored titles, the Doom franchise, the most prominent Elder Scrolls games like Morrowind and Oblivion, Prey, Rage 2, and much more. As the 12th of March has arrived, the games are live on all Xbox platforms.
“If you’re an Xbox customer the thing we wanted to know is about delivering great exclusive games for you, that ship on platforms where Xbox Game Pass exists,” Spencer said. That’s the goal of Xbox and Microsoft. That’s the reason we’re doing this. It is going to be the best if we are giving live on all Xbox platforms.
It’s not been surprising, as it has been obvious that Microsoft has been gearing up for a different kind of future of Xbox with its Xbox Game Pass. But confirming it directly by the head of Xbox makes it even clearer that Xbox Game Pass is Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox. Spencer, the head of Xbox also cleared that Xbox has games on other platforms also such as Minecraft. However, Bethesda games will fall into this same category.
Microsoft completed its $7.5 billion Bethesda acquisition. Microsoft also hinted that some new titles in the future would be live on Xbox and PC. Now, Microsoft’s Xbox chief, Phil Spencer, makes things clear why the company paid $7.5 billion for Bethesda: Xbox Game Pass.
