Android users use more Snapchat than iOS

Today, Snapchat announced the report of its earning. According to the report, Android users use more Snapchat than iOS.  During the first quarter of this year, Snapchat was downloaded by over 15 million new users.  Moreover, the app reached 280 million average daily users. Also, there’s an increase of 22 per cent of the app by the people in this year than the previous year. The increase of Android users means that Snapchat has become popular outside of the US because the US is an iPhone dominant country.

The CEO of Snapchat, Evan Spiegel considered it a critical milestone when Android users overtook iOS users. The CEO also said that this major achievement of the Android app reflects the long-term investment of time and value they made to build this app for Android users. Originally, the app was only built for iOS users but later in 2012, it was rebuilt for Android users. The app was rebuilt for Android users after looking at the maximum number of users of it than iOS. The latest version was the app was updated in 2019 that makes the app more efficient and functional to the users.

Furthermore, Spotlight, the TikTok like short video platform also pays the users for their video clips. Spotlight has been also one of the reasons for the increasing popularity of the app. Unfortunately; the Spotlight feature is only available in 12 countries. Surprisingly, it grew to 125 million monthly users in the previous month. In February, the company claimed that Spotlight has been getting an average of 175,000 submissions daily. Snapchat also generated huge revenue of $770 million in the first quarter of 2021. This is an increase of 66 per cent of revenue from the previous year.
